Former President, General Michel Sleiman, said in a statement today:
“Summary of the fourth day of the new year, Saturday, January 4, 2025:
The enemy army infiltrated from the outskirts of the town of Adaisseh, south of Lebanon, towards al-Taibeh, and is threatening to postpone its withdrawal at the end of the 60-day period, according to the field situation. The Israeli enemy tried to cross the Blue Line in Adaisseh itself on August 3, 2010 (before the war of support for Gaza) to cut down a tree on Lebanese soil. The Lebanese army confronted it with fire, and the Israeli lieutenant colonel, commander of the tank battalion, was killed. Three other soldiers were neutralized, and the enemy was forced to retreat without cutting down the tree. As a result, three heroic soldiers and a newspaper reporter were martyred, may God have mercy on their souls."
Sleiman continued: “For God’s sake, throw the ball in the army’s court. Implement the first phase of Resolution 1701 related to handing over weapons in the south of the Litani to the army. Its national and international legitimacy is stronger than any missiles....The enemy is attempting to extend its presence on our land, and we are working to extend the vacuum in the first presidency and the judicial, security, and administrative posts...In the end, we hope that Lebanon will not be compared to Syria in that what happened in Syria would have happened in Lebanon had it not been for the resistance. This is contrary to the truth, the political and democratic reality, public freedoms, human rights, and the daily exercise of authority in the two countries.”
