Lebanese Forces Party leader Samir Geagea welcomed a high-level Ukrainian delegation at the party’s headquarters in Maarab.
The delegation, led by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, included special envoy to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Maxim Al-Sabbah, Consul General Tamer Al-Tunisi, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Georgi Tikh, and advisor George Jreidi. Lebanese MPs from the Strong Republic bloc, including Kamil Chamoun, Nazih Mettah, Razi El Hajj, and Elias Stephan, were also in attendance.
The meeting, part of a broader tour of Lebanon and Syria, focused on recent developments in Lebanon and the region, notably the fall of the Assad regime in Syria and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Minister Kuleba reiterated Ukraine's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, expressing admiration for Lebanon’s potential despite its challenges. He highlighted opportunities for cooperation, particularly in energy and food security sectors.
In response, Geagea provided a comprehensive overview of Lebanon’s political and social landscape, discussing historical divisions, the current government’s political dynamics, the presidential crisis, and the recent ceasefire agreement.
The LF Chief further stressed that the Lebanese government is currently under the influence of the pro-Assad axis, which continues to impact internal politics despite the region’s instability.
Geagea’s strong stance against the Syrian regime and his history of resistance were acknowledged and praised by Minister Kuleba during the meeting.
