Former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt arrived in Damascus at the head of a delegation of Democratic Gathering bloc deputies and the Sheikh Akl of the Druze community at the head of a group of Druze sheikhs to congratulate the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Administration, Ahmad al-Sharaa.
The delegation includes the Sheikh of the Druze community, Sheikh Sami Abi Al-Mona, and MPs Wael Aobu Faour and Taymour Jumblatt.
Sharaa and the caretaker Prime Minister will meet with the Lebanese delegation to discuss the future of the situation in Syria and Lebanon and the future of relations between the two countries.
Following the meeting, Jumblatt saluted "the Syrian people for their great victories and we salute you for your battle that you waged to get rid of oppression and tyranny."
He added: "We have a long way to go and we are suffering from Israeli expansion, so I will present a memorandum on Lebanese-Syrian relations on behalf of the "Democratic Gathering".
"Syria was a source of concern and disturbance and its intervention in Lebanon was negative and the former regime with Iranian militias worked to disperse Syrians," Jumblatt went on.
"We hope that Lebanon-Syria's relations will return to normal origins through diplomatic relations, and we hope that all criminals against the Lebanese will be held accountable. We hope that fair courts will be established for those criminalized against the Syrian people and that some prisons will remain museums of history," Jumblatt concluded.
