Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri welcomed at the second presidency headquarters in Ain El Tineh, visiting Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of Greek Ambassador to Lebanon Despina Koukoulopoulou, and Speaker Berri's media advisor Ali Hamdan.
Discussions reportedly touched on the current situation in Lebanon and the broad region, the latest political developments, and bilateral relations between the two countries.
On emerging, Speaker Berri described the atmosphere as "positive."
In response to a question whether the January 9 parliament session will lead to the election of a president for the Lebanese republic, Berri said: “The atmosphere is good and God willing there will be a president in the January 9 session.”
Speaker Berri also welcomed in Ain el-Tineh, Minister of State at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi, and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Lebanon, Sheikh Saud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, and Berri’s Political Aid, MP Ali Hassan Khalil.
The meeting reportedly discussed political developments and situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as the bilateral relations between Lebanon and Qatar.
Berri later received in Ain el-Tineh, candidate for the Lebanese presidency, MP Neemat Frem. The latest political developments, particularly the presidential election dossier, as well as legislative affairs featured high on their talks.
