Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati emphasized the pursuit of long-term stability in Lebanon, asserting that state authority must prevail, with the army holding effective control on the ground.
Mikati’s remarks came during a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he met with Caretaker Minister Abdallah Bou Habib and addressed the diplomatic corps.
Mikati highlighted the ceasefire as a step toward implementing Resolution 1701, prioritizing enduring stability and the election of a new president. He commended the Foreign Ministry's efforts and praised Lebanese diplomats for their resilience despite limited resources.
Addressing the southern situation, Mikati reaffirmed the need for Israeli withdrawal from recently occupied Lebanese lands and called for national unity to address disarmament issues.
The PM finally reiterated Lebanon’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and maintaining peace.
