Caretaker Public Works Minister Ali Hamieh visited the Arida border crossing in Akkar, which was damaged by an Israeli airstrike. Accompanied by MPs Sajih Attieh, Walid Al-Baarini, and MP Mohammad Yahya, as well as security officials, Hamieh reviewed the temporary passage constructed by Al Arz Company within 48 hours to restore transport.
Hamiyeh condemned the strikes on three key northern border crossings, emphasizing swift coordination with Syrian authorities to reopen Arida. He assured displaced Lebanese in Syria of the crossing’s functionality for their safe return.
The minister highlighted plans for a new bridge at Arida and Aboudiyeh crossings and praised Prime Minister Mikati's efforts, noting a scheduled meeting to discuss reconstruction strategies.
MP Al-Baarini stressed the crossing’s economic importance and urged expedited relief for affected residents, while MP Yehya commended the rapid repair efforts and called for compensation for the displaced.
