Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, welcomed Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, at the patriarchal residence in Bkerke.
Ambassador Bukhari stressed "the Kingdom's support for Lebanon and its keenness on its stability," stressing the need to expedite the election of a president for the Lebanese Republic, which is considered a prelude to all solutions.
Ambassador Bukhari also hailed the Patriarch's positions and "role on the domestic level and his efforts to achieve rapprochement and internal unity," and praised the outcomes of the spiritual summit recently held in Bkerke, considering it "a distinctive initiative on the national level."
Bukhari also briefed the Patriarch on the efforts still undertaken by the Quintet committee.
Patriarch Rahi later received in Bkerke a delegation of the National Renewal Movement, headed by Charles Arbid, with the general situation in the country featuring high on their talks.
The Patriarch then met with the Spiritual Summit Recommendations' Follow Up Committee, who briefed him on the outcome of the committee's recent meeting to approve the draft program of the workshop, which will be organized soon under the title “Displaced Persons: The Issue of National Unity.”
On another level, Patriarch Rahi contacted Vice President of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, inquiring about the council’s condition in wake of the Israeli aggression, condemning what happened.
Rahi reiterated the call for "the necessity of reaching a ceasefire agreement and getting Lebanon out of the cycle of war."
