Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati received US presidential envoy Amos Hochstein this afternoon at his residence, in the presence of Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib and US Ambassador Lisa Johnson. The meeting focused on Hochstein's efforts to secure a ceasefire and implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
During the meeting, Mikati reiterated that the government's priority is to stop the firing and the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, while ensuring Lebanese sovereignty over all its territory. He emphasized that any actions that help achieve this goal are a top priority.
He also pointed out that the main concern of the government is the swift return of displaced people to their villages and towns, as well as halting the Israeli genocide and the senseless destruction of Lebanese towns.
Mikati stressed the importance of implementing clear international resolutions and strengthening the authority of the Lebanese Army in the south.
