Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, met with Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The meeting was also attended by Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdallah Bou Habib.
During the meeting, President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, strongly condemning the Israeli aggression in both Palestine and Lebanon. The Egyptian President emphasized the crucial role of the international community in halting regional escalation and preventing a slide into a catastrophic regional war. He also assured Lebanon of Egypt's continued assistance to its people.
In turn, Prime Minister Mikati, expressed his gratitude for Egypt's steadfast support for Lebanon and praised Egypt’s efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region. The PM stressed the importance of pressuring Israel to halt its aggression against Lebanon and to reach a ceasefire, calling for the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
