As part of his diplomatic outreach to shed the light on the precarious situation in Lebanon amid the ongoing war and its dire impact on the country, Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel met with Olivier Cadic, Deputy Head of the French Senate's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, to present the party’s vision on Lebanon’s path to recovery.
During the meeting, Gemayel stressed that any solution to Lebanon’s crisis starts by reclaiming the country's sovereignty from the control of Iran and Hezbollah. He also underscored the importance of making a historic decision to implement key United Nations resolutions, particularly Resolutions 1701 and 1559. The enforcement of said resolutions would pave the way for the disarmament of non-state groups and the deployment of the Lebanese Army which would be solely assigned with the task of securing the borders and defending Lebanon, in cooperation with international peacekeeping forces.
Gemayel also addressed the ongoing campaign of skepticism targeting the Lebanese Army, emphasizing that international support is crucial to ensure the military can fulfill its duties effectively.
