On the third day of the Rabweh fire, Civil Defense official Joseph Abou Chaaya noted in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon" that the Rabweh fire is very large, and the rough terrain makes it difficult to extinguish. Additionally, the wind speed is not helping. He added, "We are working with the army to contain the fire in order to begin cooling operations."
Meanwhile, the head of the training division in the Civil Defense, Nabil Salhani, pointed out that the difficulty in extinguishing the fire in Rabweh is due to the geographical location and weather conditions, in addition to the dryness of the land and grass, which contributes to the rapid spread and intensity of the fire. He emphasized that the plan of the Director General of Civil Defense primarily involves protecting citizens and properties and preventing the flames from reaching homes, along with cooperation with the Lebanese army to access rugged sites.
He continued: "Studies have shown that 99% of fires are man-made, whether intentionally or accidentally, and the ignition of fires from multiple locations proves this."
