Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri chaired a meeting of the Parliamentary Bureau, after a statement was issued addressing the failure to reach a quorum during the October 22, 2024, session for electing new parliamentary committees.
After consulting with bureau members, the statement noted that based on the parliament's bylaws, legal precedent, and a legal opinion from Dr. Edmond Rabat, the current parliamentary committees would remain in place. This decision aligns with the principle of institutional continuity until new committees are elected.
The statement further emphasized that similar decisions were made in previous parliamentary sessions held on March 16, 1976, March 21, 1989, and March 19, 2019. All current committee members will be informed of this resolution.
