Berri later received the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Alaa Moussa, with whom he discussed the current situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as the latest political and field developments.
On emerging, Ambassador Moussa said: "the meeting with the Speaker focused on the situation in Lebanon and the circumstances and events it is going through. We discussed in detail the effects of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.”
Moussa added: “We also discussed the efforts led by his Excellency and the Prime Minister to reach tranquility and a ceasefire in Lebanon. In fact, I informed the Speaker of Egypt’s position, which fully supports a permanent ceasefire in Lebanon as in Gaza. I expressed our support for any efforts that might lead to this, for the solution now is a ceasefire and the start of dialogue and dealing through diplomatic means, leading to the full implementation of Resolution 1701 on all sides.”
