Caretaker Minister of Interior Bassam Mawlawi emphasized that the security situation is delicate and dangerous, urging the security and military forces to closely monitor any suspicious or concerning activities to prevent any more breaches or attacks on residential areas.
In his statwmwnt following an extraordinary meeting of the Central Internal Security Council, Mawlawi stressed the importance of unity and readiness, noting that Lebanon is is in a critical situation that requires awareness and solidarity. He called for intensified intelligence and security efforts to track the movements of foreign nationals to prevent any malicious intentions to undermine the internal stability of Lebanon.
He also highlighted the need for coordination among all security forces, commending the Civil Defense for its significant efforts at incident sites as well as its quick response. Mawlawi stated that everyone is fully prepared and must remain vigilant, and the Central Security Council will keep its meetings open to monitor developments.
In response to a question, Mawlawi acknowledged that we are in fact breached and that Israel is employing new technologies. He indicated that the security agencies are studying these technologies alongside their domestic operations, emphasizing the need to monitor Palestinian camps, Syrian refugee camps, airport activity, and hotels.
