Head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, stated in a press conference held in Maarab that "General Michel Aoun put us in one hell, and now the resistance axis is putting us in another." He emphasized, "Hezbollah's actions on the border are not to support Gaza but to advance Iran's strategic interests in the region. In any case, Hezbollah cannot make decisions, and 'the government is to blame.'"
Geagea stressed that "the government must take a stance based on Lebanon's national interests and cannot merely reflect the actions of Hezbollah." He criticized that "Hochstein takes all his feedback on his proposals from Hezbollah, while the government's actions amount to nothing more than 'delivering messages' and acting as a charity supporting what is happening in the south."
He urged that "we do not want a civil war, but we do want to address issues properly, and the government should inquire about Hochstein's proposal before waiting for his arrival." He added, "I am not afraid of Hezbollah turning inward as it did after the July war, similar to what happened on May 7; our relationship with the Socialist Party remains amicable, even if we disagree on certain issues."
Regarding the presidential file, Geagea noted that "there are 30 or 40 members of parliament who do not want to take a stance on the presidential file, but they should express their convictions." He also addressed the Syrian presence, stating, "Use the term 'illegal Syrian presence' instead of 'refugee' or 'Syrian displacement' because Lebanon is not a country of refuge." He added that "the government is required to make a sovereign decision regarding the status of Syrians in Lebanon, and the High Commissioner for Refugees has the right to issue a 'refugee request' at most." He called for "the government to request that international organizations halt aid to anyone classified as having an illegal presence, or else they should leave Lebanon."
On the matter of Resolution 1701, Geagea said, "If we implement Resolution 1701, we would be in a much better position than the one we are currently in." He also remarked, "Some clever members of the resistance claim that Israel does not want to implement Resolution 1701, but we all know that it is actually them who are avoiding its implementation."
Regarding the Pascal Sleiman case, he revealed that "all investigations into the Pascal Sleiman case so far have addressed the details, but the key point is the background of his assassination, which we have not yet explored."
