In celebration of St. Marina’s Day, Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi led a Mass at the St. Marina Monastery in the Qannoubine Valley, the resting place of seventeen patriarchs.
The Maronite Patriarch was assisted by Bishops Hanna Alwan and Joseph Naffaa, and priests Hadi Dou, Khalil Arab, and Tony Al-Agha. Attendees included caretaker Culture Minister Mohammad Wissam Mortada and his wife, Judge Maya Kanaan, alongside other notable figures and residents.
In his sermon, Patriarch Rahi welcomed Minister Mortada, reflecting on St. Marina's virtues and recounting her story of dedication and resilience. He emphasized patience in defending the truth.
Post-Mass, attendees gathered at the Lady of Qannoubine Monastery. Sister Jeanette Finianos discussed ongoing renovations and the challenges faced by the nuns. Minister Mortada acknowledged the hardships and pledged support for the community's needs.
Concluding the visit, Mortada announced the formation of a committee to improve infrastructure in Qannoubine, committing to prioritize the residents' rights and well-being.
