The Contract Teachers Movement said in a statement that it has monitored wage adjustment talks involving the Prime Minister and other officials, which propose two additional months' salary starting in October and early 2025 for public sector employees.
The statement added that “the movement has welcomed the initiative but stressed that a two-month increase equals only LBP 200,000 per contract hour, insufficient amid rising taxes and inflation.”
“We demand at least a LBP 700,000 hourly increase,” the statement added, warning that excluding contract teachers would prompt a general and open-ended strike if demands are not met.
