Caretaker Minister of Interior Bassam Mawlawi currently present in France, responded to the invitation of the Chargé d'Affairs of the Lebanese Embassy in Paris, Ziad Taan, to the embassy premises, where he met with several members of the Lebanese community residing there, in addition to several newspaper office directors and representatives in the French capital.
In his words before the attendees, Mawlawi praised their diversity that represents all Lebanese components, and considered that "national unity is the basis for approaching any issue."
He pointed to the necessity of strengthening ties over issues that are a source of consensus for the Lebanese, which would constitute a main prelude to addressing and finding solutions to controversial matters. He cited herein the Lebanese unified position in dealing with the Syrian displacement issue as an example.
Touching on the situation in south Lebanon, Mawlawi underlined the need to strive diligently to remove the calamity of war expansion, saying: “What is happening in the south hurts every Lebanese and every person of conscience in the world.”
In regards to the security conditions at the outset of the summer season, Mawlawi expressed his keenness on inviting all Lebanese in the diaspora to spend the summer vacation in Lebanon, stressing that “investing in security is the gateway to all economic, financial and development stability.”
