Major General Abbas Ibrahim hosted a delegation of foreign researchers led by American journalist Nicholas Noe.
Discussions reportedly focused on the Gaza war, Ibrahim's tenure as Director General of Lebanese General Security, the Syrian refugee crisis, border management, and southern Lebanon.
Addressing the Gaza conflict, Ibrahim stated, "The war in Gaza won't end soon, and it will not escalate to a full-scale war between Lebanon and Israel." He emphasized the deterrent capability of Hezbollah and doubted the Israeli army's capacity to open a new front, especially after months of inconclusive conflict.
On U.S. support, Ibrahim remarked, "Netanyahu wants Biden to lose the election, and Biden wants Netanyahu to step down. This prolongs the war, as Biden aims to save Israel, and Netanyahu aims to save himself."
The visit is part of an exchange program with Beirut, involving political, activist, and academic meetings.
