Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rahi on Friday welcomed in Bkerke the Chair of Bipartisan U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, Nadine Maenza, with whom he broached the multiple crises facing Lebanon, as well as the role of the US and the international community supporting the country.
In the wake of the meeting, Maenza said that she had affirmed to the Maronite Patriarch the US persistent will to support Lebanon.
Regarding neutrality and the International Conference in favor of Lebanon, she explained that the US could help in this area through opening channels of dialogue.
"I think humanitarian aid is a necessity at this stage. The US will then endeavor to ensure all that's necessary for Lebanon to remain a country of coexistence," she added.
