The Jordanian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that efforts are under way with Israeli authorities to release two of its citizens arrested following an attack last week at the King Hussein (Allenby) Bridge crossing.
The ministry said in a statement it is coordinating the release of its two citizens, Musleh al-Awdat and Hussein al-Naimat, who were arrested by Israeli forces following the attack.
On September 8, three Israelis were killed in a shooting attack at the border crossing between Jordan and the occupied West Bank. The suspect, Jordanian citizen Maher al-Jazi, was shot dead by the Israeli forces.
The ministry confirmed that it received al-Jazi’s body for burial in his hometown.
