Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said in a statement on Tuesday that "Prime Minister Saad Hariri did well by submitting his resignation and the resignation of the government in response to the popular demand."
"What is important now is the second and important step required to get out of our current crisis; that is the formation of a new government of specialists known for their integrity and success. Most importantly, they should be specialists who are completely independent of political forces," he said.
"On the other hand, I call on the concerned security services to maintain the safety of demonstrators wherever they were in Lebanon, in the light of the horrific attacks they were exposed to today in downtown Beirut," Geagea added.
