The 4th Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) will take place on 10 October 2019in Barcelona, Spain, under the theme “Paving the Way Forward”.
The Forum will gather the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the UfM Member States and will be chaired by the UfM Co-Presidency, assumed by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, and by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, and hosted by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, Josep Borrell, and the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean,Nasser Kamel.
Building on the success of the first three editions, the 4th UfM Regional Forum will provide the occasion to take stock of the progress achieved to date and to discuss the way forward to strengthen development, cooperation and regional integration in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
On the occasion of the Regional Forum, the UfM Secretariat will organise an event to present the main conclusions of the first-ever comprehensive scientific report on the impact of climate and environmental change in the Mediterranean region, developed since 2015 by a network of over 80 scientists from across the Euro-Mediterranean area named MedECC - Mediterranean Experts on Climate and Environmental Change. MedECC was established with the support of the Union for the Mediterranean and the Mediterranean Action Plan of the United Nations Environment Programme, through its Plan Bleu Regional Activity Centre.
