The launching of the fourth edition of the Jbeil Festival of Wine took place Thursday evening on the quay of the old port of Jbeil, under the patronage of MP Ziad Hawat and in the presence of several prominent figures.
"This traditional festival is the pride of the city of Jbeil which supports agriculture and farmers, so that they stay rooted in their land, and so we build a healthy country," Hawat said in his word at the launching ceremony, assuring that the Jbeil district will experience an economic, tourist, agricultural and industrial boom.
He added that wine was at the heart of Lebanese history and culture. "Thanks to its excellent quality, Lebanese wine is able to compete in international markets, and 7 million bottles of local wine are exported each year to Europe and America," he said.
Hawat finally noted that this festival, organized in cooperation with the municipality of Jbeil-Byblos and the "Bank of Beirut", was not just tourist, but also national. "This tradition will continue in Jbeil, as will the artistic festivals. (...) It is the Lebanon that we want, that of creativity and success," he concluded.
