The case of kidnapped servicemen by the Nusra front and IS is back on the front burner with a released statement by their families, announcing a decision to take escalating measures on Sunday due to the government's laxity to address the file.
The last message received from IS abductors dates back to almost a year.
No word on the nine servicemen held in IS custody: Mohamad Yousof, Ibrahim Mughit, Hussein Ammar, Khaled Moqbel Hassan, Mustafa Wehbi, Abdel Rahim Diab, Ali al-Masri, Ali Hajj Hassan and Seif Zeibian.
The relatives of servicemen kidnapped by the Nusra Front were more fortunate to have been allowed to visit their sons on Fitr, for a few hours last July.
However, no one has heard about the 16 detainees ever since.
In a phone call, Yousof confirmed to al-Hayat daily that families will be cutting the road to the Banks avenue today, followed by a series of unprecedented escalating measures in the upcoming days.
Although offered a positive spin on the negotiations by the Gen. Brig. Mohamad kheir, Yousof refuses to rely on said reassurances without tangible proofs.
“The government’s inability to communicate with the families is inexcusable. If it fears the truth, we are ready to hear it even if it’s bitter,” he added, ridiculing the government’s crisis response cell that failed to make a breakthrough almost a year and half after the kidnapping of their sons.
