The constitutional institutions of Lebanon have lost all distinction. The government is completely paralyzed that it can hardly manage its affairs, and the obstructed parliament parades its flamboyant failure to pass a single legislation of consequence in over six years.
Our judiciary is being eroded by politics and now our army, butchered repeatedly on the battlefield, is being forcibly pulled to the altar of politics to be slain once more for the elite’s squalid aspirations.
Military promotions have swelled into a condense material for the media in a matter of weeks. Not a day passes without at least one published article outlining the many scenarios for a potential deal.
Politicians have openly expounded their demands, others voiced their rejection, some refrained from announcing their stance, while the rest remained open to all possibilities.
Politicians have blatantly intervened in the affairs of the military institution. They have vulgarized it by gambling officers’ names and rationing their shares as they did with ministries and administrations under their jurisdiction.
This political class is not only corrupt, but impudent with an insatiable hunger for deals, it is now will to compromise the only institution that should have been insulated against its venoms.
But even if the politicians of March 8 and 14 alliances agree to split the cake, we urge our honorable officers to face the music and eliminate their chances. We call on them to expose all accomplices and submit their resignations before every person who tries to tarnish their dignities and their loyalty to the military institutions.
Will they rise up to the challenge if our politicians went ahead with the plan?
