Prime Minister Hassan Diab received on Monday afternoon at the Grand Serail, a delegation from the Reform Committee of the Union of the Citadel of Independence Municipalities (Rashaya) including Chairman of the Committee, Sheikh Ayman Charkieh, and members: Father Mitri Al-Hisan, Issam Hadi, Acting president of the Union of the Citadel of Independence Municipalities and Head of Ain Arab Municipality, Omar Ayyash, Al-Bireh municipality Head, Yasser Khalil, Bakka Municipality Head, Akram Othman, Al-Rafid Municipality Head, Khaled Ahmad, Abdel-Fattah Ahmad, Haouch El HarimehMunicipality Secretary and Arafat Janbeih, in the presence of PM’s Advisor, Khodor Taleb.
During the meeting, the delegation stressed on the importance of coexistence in this region, which is a model of national unity. The delegation also exposed before the Prime Minister the social and living problems of the region and the importance of the state's support to the municipalities in carrying out their duty. For his part, PM Diab highlighted the importance of co-existence, which constitutes Lebanon's real wealth, and stressed on the need to activate the agricultural and industrial sectors to boost the economy in light of the difficult circumstances the country is going through.
After the meeting, speaking on behalf of the delegation, Sheikh Charkieh made the following statement: "We came from Rashaya district as Union of the Citadel of Independence Municipalities, Muslims and Christians, to place all the problems facing the region in PM Diab’s care, in order to find appropriate solutions, in the context of the region’s and other regions’ development. We wish success to PM Diab in leading the march of Lebanon’s reform and renaissance."
