The northern Syrian town of Kasab near the Turkish border has stirred dark memories and uproar among Armenians worldwide, memories of the Ottoman-era genocide seemed to return more vivid than ever.
The unexplainable number of civilian casualties in the serene and quiet home to about 2,500 Armenian Christian nationals heightened tensions between Turkey and Syrian, giving a sharp edge to the rebel and opposition confrontations that have been ravaging Syria for the past 3 or so years.
The “genocide” triggered a disinformation campaign as social networks raged with appalling photographs of the disfigured victims and amputated limbs. Throughout the world, Armenians as well as people from various nationalities supporting the Armenian cause, raised their voices against such violence, calling for halting such atrocities so as to foil any mass killing that could mirror that of the Ottoman Era’s. Countless residents have fled the small town joining Syrian peers that have been flocking to Lebanon and various other areas in the Mideast in an attempt to find some peace and quiet, away from the ever mounting hostilities.
he rebel strike, which could be described as large-scale seemed to catch the Reigme off-guard. However, with the escalating tensions on the international political scene, the Regime dragged the situation into another direction, exploiting it so as to create out of its counterattack, a strong punishment to the rebel forces, hence metamorphosing the terrible Syrian system into a protector of minorities. Going back to the disinformation issue, the regime posted bogus pictures of people suffering, in order to gain the world’s sympathy, and maybe push for a new vision of the Regime, one that could be compared to that of the “Avengers” … interesting thought! However, the pictures turned out to be taken from a Canadian horror film entitled Inner Depravity (pictures shown above)
Celebrities worldwide sought to express their view of the situation of which we cite a Kim Kardashian who tweeted the following: “Please let's not let history repeat itself!!!!!! Let's get this trending!!!!”
And
“If you don't know what's going on in Kessab please google it, its heart breaking! As an Armenian, I grew up hearing so many painful stories!”
