Husband and Relatives Beat up Pregnant Wife

A pregnant woman was brutally beaten Friday by her husband, her brother-in-law and mother-in-law in Tripoli for allegedly losing a water bill and, therefore, contributing to a water cut.

Ongoing investigations have so far revealed that Fatima al-Nashar’s husband, Bilal Sultan, and relatives, Othman and Naimeh, had actually premeditatedly stirred up a scuffle in a bid to cause miscarriage.

Fatima and her embryo have so far survived the brutal assault after she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at a Tripoli hospital.

The abused woman had reported her husband’s repeated violent behavior before the police. Then, Bilal Sultan vowed to stop beating his wife, but obviously ended up breaking his word.

The case will be referred to the Military Court hoping that domestic violence will one day be totally abolished.
