Emergency Landing in Hamat

It is a shame when foreigners ask about their safety in case they landed in Rafic Hariri International Airport.
It seems that a second airport became a dire need.
MTV has already tackled the airports case, as it also highlighted on Monday the opening of Qlayaat airport, and today it is Hamat airport's turn.
This airport is also known as Pierre Gemayel Airport, it is located between Beirut and Qlayaat airports in Batroun area while the road leading to it, is easy.
Hamat airport which was occupied by the Syrian army in 1978 has become a base for Lebanese army air forces in November 25, 2011. And nowadays it is an airstrip for helicopters.
According to our views, Hamat airport contains three airship hangars, a 50/150 feet maintenance center and its taxiway can be expanded up to 4000 meters. It can receive at least 3 million passenger a year and 35 airplanes a day.
Moreover, the airport is located up on a hill that permits to the airplane to land above the sea and to touch the ground of the airship at zero degree angle. It is a rare phenomenon in the international airports around the world.
Hamat airport is back to spotlight every time Beirut International Airport is threatened to be shut mainly after May 7, 2008 unrest.
However in order to become a civil airport it needs to be funded and above all a political decision, which is not available for now.
