Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel said that Lebanese President Joseph Aoun’s visit to Saudi Arabia and his meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman present an opportunity to reaffirm Lebanon’s commitment to its historic friendships and natural alliances while steering clear of regional alignments.
In remarks to Okaz newspaper, Gemayel highlighted the significance of the visit, saying it would strengthen the deep-rooted ties between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia and pave the way for tangible outcomes that restore bilateral relations to their former state.
“There is no doubt that this visit will reflect the strong bond between the two countries and yield concrete results that will help restore the relationship to what it once was,” Gemayel said. “The priority is for Lebanon to reclaim its distinctive role, and Saudi Arabia has always stood by Lebanon and the Lebanese people through the hardships they have endured.”
He added that he was confident President Aoun would work to bolster Lebanon’s engagement with its historic allies, stressing the importance of preserving the country’s sovereignty and institutional stability.
“We are confident that President Joseph Aoun, with his unwavering principles and determination to restore the State and its institutions, will ensure that Lebanon remains an active and engaged partner with its historic allies in a way that serves the interests of all,” he said.
