Information Minister Paul Morcos met with Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Rudakov, with whom he discussed bilateral relations and avenues for enhancing cooperation, particularly in the media sector.
Following the meeting, Morcos revealed that he had requested Rudakov to convey a message regarding the urgent needs of the Ministry of Information, specifically support for Télé Liban. "I received full backing and a warm response from Ambassador Rudakov," he stated.
Discussions also covered mechanisms for translating cooperation into action, including potential support from Russian television networks to strengthen Télé Liban’s national role and its impact on Lebanon’s unity—an aspect Russia values.
Rudakov reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to supporting Lebanon amid its ongoing crisis, particularly friendly ministries such as the Ministry of Information. He also discussed domestic, regional, and international developments with Morcos, emphasizing the importance of exchanging views between Lebanese authorities and the Russian embassy.
Later, Minister Morcos met with Pakistani Ambassador Salman Athar to discuss bilateral ties.
Morcos highlighted shared aspects between Lebanon and Pakistan, particularly in the media field, noting Pakistan’s extensive television network of over 120 local channels. He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s humanitarian and diplomatic support, especially as an active member of the UN Security Council.
For his part, Ambassador Athar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence. "Lebanon is a brotherly nation, and we will continue to stand by our Lebanese friends. Our government will make every effort to support them," he said, expressing his eagerness to strengthen cooperation with Minister Morcos.
