Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri met at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain El-Tineh, with Major General Aroldo Lazaro, the Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and the accompanying delegation.
The discussion addressed the current field developments as a result of Israel's continued aggression against Lebanon, especially the situation in UNIFIL’s area of operation, south of the Litani River, and the attacks on the force's positions.
Speaker Berri hailed the sacrifices of the UNIFL forces, their resilience and their steadfastness in maintaining their positions in the face of Israeli targeting.
Berri added: "Israel has wasted, at least since last September, more than one tangible opportunity to cease fire, implement Resolution 1701, restore calm and return displaced persons on both sides of the border."
Berri concluded by stressing "Lebanon's commitment to implementing Resolution 1701, as it is the sole option to achieving security and stability in the region."
On the other hand, Berri received in Ain El-Tineh, Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Abdallah Bou Habib, with whom he broached the latest political and field developments, in addition to the displaced file.
Berri later met with Caretaker Justice Minister, Judge Henri Khoury, over current general situation and legislative affairs.
