The head of Syndicate of Owners of Restaurants, Cafes and Nightclubs Tony Ramy announced that the percentage of restaurant closures in Beirut is 70%, with 30% of those relying primarily on delivery services, and their kitchens still operational.
In a statement to MTV, he added: "In the south and the Bekaa, the closure rate has reached 95%, including outdoor services, while in the north, sales have dropped by 80%."
He continued: "The overall delivery rate recorded 50,000 orders daily, which has now decreased to between 18,000 and 20,000 orders daily," noting that "the conditions in 2024 are not comparable to those in 2006, and the accumulation of crises has made it nearly impossible for Lebanese people to endure."
Rami expressed that "the outlook is negative, the situation is extremely catastrophic, and all sectors are suffering."
