At the annual gathering organized by the Qannoubine Association for Heritage and Mission, Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Rahi emphasized the urgent need for Lebanon to elect a president to restore constitutional order and guide the nation towards recovery.
Rahi lamented the lack of progress on the Qannoubine trail leading to the monastery, stating, "Since 2011, we have fought for this road without success."
The Maronite Patriarch expressed gratitude to the association and its members for their continuous efforts, likening their dedication to an unstoppable wave.
In turn, Tourism Minister Walid Nassar echoed Rahi's sentiments, highlighting the divine care derived from the sacred Qannoubine valley during Lebanon's toughest times.
Nassar extended condolences to the families of the fallen and emphasized the importance of national unity, especially following recent Israeli aggression. The Tourism Minister announced a decision by the Ministry of Tourism to designate Rahi as "Patriarch of Life for Religious Tourism in Lebanon," recognizing his pivotal role in promoting Lebanon’s rich religious heritage.
For his part, Information Minister Ziad Makary addressing the audience, reflected on the valley's historical significance, urging a return to Lebanon's core values as a sanctuary for the oppressed.
Makary also condemned the recent violence and called for solidarity among citizens, emphasizing that Lebanon must remain a land of freedoms.
The event also featured the signing of partnership agreements between the Qannoubine Association and two organizations dedicated to social development.
Amidst the backdrop of these solemn discussions, the calls for unity and a functional government remain pressing as Lebanon navigates through its current crises.
