The British Foreign Office announced, "We continue to advise British nationals in Lebanon to leave and recommend against traveling to Lebanon for any reason."
The British Foreign Office revealed that Minister David Lammy chaired an emergency security meeting regarding Lebanon.
For its part, a spokesperson for the National Security Council at the White House clarified that they have no prior knowledge of the Israeli attacks on Beirut and still believe that a diplomatic solution in the Middle East is the best way forward.
The White House affirmed that no one has lost hope for a deal to release prisoners and a ceasefire in Gaza. President Joe Biden has directed efforts to explore whether a proposal can be made that both parties would agree to for a ceasefire and the release of prisoners.
He added, "We strongly advise Americans not to travel to Lebanon," and continued, "We are engaged in intensive diplomatic efforts to prevent the escalation of conflict along the Israeli-Lebanese border."
