Caretaker Minister of Public Works Ali Hamieh initiates restoration works on the Jbeil-Madfoun highway at a ceremony in Nahr Ibrahim. Attendees included MPs, municipal officials, and representatives from local associations.
In his speech, Hamieh emphasized the importance of the project despite Lebanon's economic difficulties.
“The ministry, within its limited budget, is prioritizing road safety and rehabilitation across all Lebanese regions. The Jbeil highway project is one of many that are part of a national plan, including roads from Beirut to the Syrian border,” Hamieh said.
The Minister also addressed the expansion of the Jounieh-Jbeil highway, saying, "While funds are limited, our priority is to maintain the roads and reduce traffic congestion by 60%."
Regarding Jbeil’s historic port, Hamieh pledged to make it a top priority in 2025’s budget, stressing the need for cooperation to secure necessary funding.
"Public funds belong to all Lebanese," Hamieh concluded, reaffirming his commitment to serve all regions equally and ensure safe, accessible infrastructure across the country.
