Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri hosted Minister of Interior Bassam Mawlawi at the second presidency headquarters in Ain El-Tineh. The meeting between the pair covered the current conditions in Lebanon, recent political, and security updates, as well as the ongoing measures by the Ministry of Interior to address the current situation.
Following the meeting, Minister Mawlawi stated, "As usual, the visit to Speaker Nabih Berri aims to update him on the activities of the Ministry of Interior, both in terms of security and the work of municipalities, especially under the challenging circumstances the country is facing, including the south and Bekaa regions," affirming that "Lebanon is united."
“I’ve briefed Speaker Berri on the security forces' efforts in areas with displacement, emphasizing the need for state presence alongside the resilient citizens and displaced people, particularly those still in the south. We commend the resilience of the Lebanese, especially those in the south, and everyone must remain steadfast in their commitment to their homeland,” Mawlawi added.
"We’ve also discussed the role of municipalities in these difficult times and the efforts required to supporting them through various resources to ensure their continued operation,” the Interior Minister added.
"We talked about the electricity situation and the significant efforts by Prime Minister Najib Mikati to secure essential materials for electricity generation, including supplies from Iraq and other countries such as Algeria. Additionally, we reviewed the political and regional developments,” Mawlawi concluded.
