In a recent speech delivered during the funeral of Hezbollah military commander Fouad Shukr, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah described the recent attack on Dahyieh as an aggression, not just an assassination.
Nasrallah firmly rejected any responsibility for the incident in Majdal Shams, stating, “We categorically deny any responsibility for the incident in Majdal Shams and are brave enough to admit if we made such a mistake, and our internal investigation has confirmed that we are not responsible for what happened.”
He criticized the Israeli accusations, asserting, “The Israeli enemy has not provided any evidence of our responsibility but rushed to accuse us, aiming to exonerate the Israeli army and incite tension, and we have evidence that Israeli interceptor missiles fell on Acre and other areas.”
Nasrallah also acknowledged the role of Druze leaders in Lebanon and Syria, noting, “The awareness and firm positions of a group of Druze leaders in Lebanon and Syria helped suppress a strife.”
Regarding the broader conflict, Nasrallah emphasized, “The aggression against Dahyieh is not a response to what happened in Majdal Shams, but rather part of the war and a response to the support from the southern Lebanese front, and do not mind "paying the price" because we entered the battle according to our beliefs in justice.”
He further stated, “The battle is major and has entered a new phase, surpassing the support front. Iran views the situation as an attack to its sovereignty, prestige, and honor because Haniyeh was a guest there. All I have to say to the Israelis is laugh a little now, because you will cry a lot later.”
On the anticipated response, Nasrallah warned, “The enemy should anticipate our inevitable response, and our response will come through the days, nights, and on the battlefield. We are seeking a genuine and well-considered response, not a mere symbolic one, and are looking for real opportunities.”
