Italian Deputy PM engages in talks with Bou Habib to prevent Middle East conflict escalation

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani held phone discussions with his Lebanese and Israeli counterparts, Abdallah Bou Habib and Israel Katz, in an effort to prevent the conflict in the Middle East from escalating, according to Italy's Nova News Agency.
Following talks, Tajani emphasized, "It is possible to halt the cycle of violence in the Middle East. The government is committed to peace and stability, also through the Italian unit in the UNIFIL mission in southern Lebanon, which we have asked to protect."
Moreover, Tajani noted that he spoke with the foreign ministers of Lebanon and Israel "to avoid a new war" and stressed the importance of adhering to UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
