Belgian Ambassador visits Amel Association centers in Lebanon

Belgian Ambassador to Lebanon Koen Vervaeke led a delegation to the Amel Association's health and social development centers in Hay El-Sellom. The visit, part of a joint program between Amel and the Belgian Embassy, included a tour of the facilities and an overview of the programs aimed at improving living conditions in marginalized areas.
Ambassador Vervaeke praised Amel’s dedicated work, stating, "The equipment may not always be the best, but the people working here are." He condemned attacks on Amel's Khiyam center and emphasized the need to protect humanitarian sites.
Kamel Mehanna, President of Amel International, expressed gratitude to the ambassador and his wife, highlighting their efforts in providing primary healthcare, education, and child protection in underserved regions. He stressed the importance of their partnership in achieving sustainable development.
The visit reinforced the cooperation between Lebanon and Belgium in health and social development, reflecting the embassy’s commitment to supporting social and humanitarian projects in Lebanon. The delegation agreed to continue collaborative efforts to enhance living conditions in Lebanon’s marginalized communities and to support just causes, including the Palestinian issue.
