A delegation from the Progressive Socialist Party, headed by PSP leader, MP Taymour Jumblatt, and comprising MPs Wael Abou Faour, Hadi Aboul Hosn, and Raji al-Saad, as well as Hossam Harb, met with President of the Free Patriotic Movement MP Gebran Bassil, at the Mirna Chalouhi Center.
The meeting took place in the presence of MPs Ghassan Atallah and Cesar Abi Khalil, Political Advisor Antoine Constantine, and FPM Strategic Communication Committee official, Selim Haddad.
After the meeting, MP Aboul Hosn said: “Our movement today is a political one aimed at creating a dynamic that leads to a common denominator among the Lebanese that can be built upon to overcome the presidential impasse at this critical stage and the Syrian displacement that we have agreed to address.”
He said: “Our hand is stretched out. It is not an initiative as much as it is a catalyst for shaking political stagnation, and this political movement, with its outcomes, success and failure, is the responsibility of all political parties and not the responsibility of one team at all.”
Aboul Hosn added: "We sensed positivity in the discussion and a positive willingness and flexibility to search for ways out that unite and not divide.”
For his part, MP Abi Khalil said: “Today we received the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Mr. Taymour Jumblatt, at the head of a parliamentary delegation, and we listened to his ideas on the subject of facilitating the presidential elections,” adding: “We meet with Mr. Jumblatt on the goal of ending the vacuum, and we are ready for consultation and dialogue on this matter with flexibility to achieve the goal. We come together in this endeavor and each of us moves in his own way toward the same goal.”
