It came as no surprise to me that there’s an elite group in Lebanon participating in questionable social activities. By activities I mean some seriously kinky shenanigans. By no surprise I’m referring to the fact that nothing shocks me anymore.
Picture this with me, wealthy couple friends go to lavish Beirut parties together, they drink, dance, take illegal substances, have a decadent and fabulous time, and by the end of the evening they head home engines blazing. Nothing unusual so far, right? Well don’t be so hasty.
These power couples, with more money than you know what to do with, are taking home each other’s partners. They’re igniting arousal by exploring taboos of the filthy sort. They’re getting their kicks out of sullying and doing unspeakable things to their friends’ significant others. I’m all for exploring your sexuality and being open to new experiences but this is some perverted stuff. Where did the morals go? Where did the love go?
I think that when you ravenously pursue material gains with disregard to the means, real wealth goes out the window. Most of the time. You start to believe that loved ones are literally interchangeable. If you’re lying, using people, manipulating or selling your soul for money and power, you become a vapid shell of a human being. The sad thing is, worshipping these things will leave you with a big hole that no number of sick “activities” will fill.
Lebanon has always been a country of values and tradition which constitutes a big part of its allure, what is it coming to if people others idolize are forming swingers’ clubs? Have they become so sick and so bored that they have no problem sharing their loved ones with friends? When you have love and respect for your partner, you couldn’t imagine someone else laying a finger on them. You would go mad if that person were an acquaintance or a friend. You’d want to rip them to shreds, both of them. Call me crazy but that’s the type of relationship I like.
