Prime Minister Nawaf Salam held meetings at the Grand Serail with the ambassadors of Canada and Brazil, focusing on bilateral relations, development initiatives, and support for Lebanon's security forces.
Salam first met with Canadian Ambassador to Lebanon Stephanie McCollum with whom he discussed Canada’s ongoing support for Lebanon.
Talks covered development and humanitarian projects funded by Canada, as well as assistance provided to the Lebanese Armed Forces and Internal Security Forces.
Later, Salam welcomed Brazilian Ambassador to Lebanon Tarcísio Costa who conveyed congratulations from Brazilian President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Discussions reportedly highlighted the long-standing and distinguished relations between Lebanon and Brazil.
On this occasion, Salam invited Brazil to contribute to the rehabilitation of the Rachid Karami International Fair in Tripoli, a UNESCO-listed site designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. Salam emphasized that this project would bring developmental, cultural, economic, and environmental benefits to Tripoli and northern Lebanon while serving as a symbol of strong Lebanese-Brazilian ties.
Salam also met with MP Mohammad Sleiman, member of the National Moderation bloc.
Discussions focused on general national issues and specific demands related to Akkar region, particularly the rehabilitation of legal border crossings with Syria to regulate the movement of goods and individuals.
