The media office of the Ministry of Education and Higher Learning clarified in a statement that "the ministry follows the policy of the Lebanese government regarding the file of displaced persons and thus the education of displaced children in schools in Lebanon."
The statement indicated that "the Ministry of Education delivers to the General Directorate of Public Security, through the Ministry of Interior, the full name and available documents of each displaced candidate who has passed the official certificates issued by the General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education, so that the General Security can carry out its duties in following up on their obtaining residency."
The media office confirmed that "the role of the Ministry of Education is limited to providing education according to laws and regulations, and that the Cabinet decision that allowed the delivery of certificates to displaced students in vocational and technical education prevented the registration of any displaced student for the academic year 2025/2026, if he does not have a valid residency document, which means allowing students who are currently pursuing their studies to complete their studies in the academic year that will begin at the end of this month."
The media office pointed out that "the educational path of the displaced is separate from the path of the Lebanese students, and therefore the Lebanese are not affected by that in any way," noting that handing over the certificate to the displaced students does not mean at all facilitating their residence, because the Lebanese General Security must take the necessary legal action.
