Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with a delegation including Fatah Movement’s Central Committee member, Azzam al-Ahmad, Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ashraf Dabbour, and Fatah official, Fathi Abu Al-Ardat at the Grand Serail.
The meeting reportedly focused on various regional issues affecting both the Palestinian and Lebanese situations.
“We’ve discussed the ongoing war in Gaza and the need to end it, emphasizing that the goal should not be just a ceasefire but a lasting peace through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state,” Al-Ahmad stated after the meeting, emphasizing the need to stop what he called Israel's genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.
In another meeting, Prime Minister Mikati met with Minister of Public Works and Transportation Ali Hamieh to discuss plans to enhance Lebanon's ports, including the port of Tripoli.
Hamieh emphasized that the Tripoli port has achieved self-sufficiency and no longer needs loans for expansion.
He stated that the port now has the financial capacity to expand and attract major international companies for new projects.
Additionally, Mikati met with Minister of Industry George Boujikian, with whom he discussed the country’s general conditions and industrial affairs.
On emerging, Boujikian emphasized the importance of managing and appointing a board of directors for sports facilities that have been subjected to theft due to negligence, costing the treasury around $150 million.
They also discussed the issue of postage stamps and the need for road maintenance in the capital.
Furthermore, Mikati met with Member of Parliament Jihad al-Samad, with whom he discussed various general and developmental issues related to the Dennieh region and the military school students' course, as well as matters concerning the security and military agencies.
Mikati also received the President of the Lebanese University, Bassam Badran, during his series of meetings.
