Matthew Hussey, New York Times bestselling author, has been helping people for seventeen years become more confident and more adept at attracting the right partner.
I’ve been following this YouTube sensation for a long time, taking pleasure and wisdom in his content which has hooked women and men the world over.
One particular piece of advice really stood out for me a couple of years ago. Matthew said that many of us women tend to wait for the man to make the first move, set firm in the notion of it being the old-fashioned way and denoting a desired boldness in the partner. Lo and behold, the old-fashioned way as he demonstrated it, is the woman choosing her partner.
In the olden days, two hundred years ago to be exact, a lady strolling down the street with her friends would notice a fine-looking gentleman and set her cap at him. She would make a point as to pass by him and ever so subtly drop her handkerchief. The man here sees an opportunity to be a gallant gentleman and he would pick it up and race after the beautiful damsel. He’d say: “My lady you seem to have dropped your handkerchief.” To which she replies with a gleam in her eye: “Oh Did I?”.
This concept was mind-altering for me because I was one of many still convinced that it was up to the man to make the first approach. Whereas, high value women should know how to select the guy they want while giving him the impression that he has initiated the conversation.
In a nutshell, if you’re brave enough to drop the handkerchief, you will have the satisfying outcome of being with the man of your choosing, just the way you like him, instead of someone choosing you and always being a passive vanilla bystander in your own life. Bravery is a most attractive trait in both genders especially since it is so rare to find. Therefore, be brave and unapologetically go after who and what you want.
