Italian newspapers are devoting a large amount of space to residents’ concerns about the phenomenon of rats multiplying throughout Rome, especially in the areas of luxury hotels and tourist attractions.
There is a real rat invasion that can also be seen during the day, and this phenomenon has not been witnessed in Rome since World War II.
In an interview with the National News Agency, one of the owners of a bar near the famous Trevi Fountain pointed out that “rats sometimes pass between the feet of tourists who come to enjoy the beautiful Trevi Fountain.”
The situation threatens the living conditions of the population, and the problem increases with the advent of the summer season, and thus rising temperatures and the accumulation of waste increase the number of rats, which multiply very quickly.
