The Baath party conference chaired by the Syrian President Bachar al-Assad held a conference today, stripping former minister Fayez Chukor of his title and appointing lawyer Abdul Mouin Ghazi the new party leader in his place.
“Chukor was found culpable of taking measures against certain parties which don’t adhere to the party’s policies,” Former Minister Assem Kanso declared, underlining the party’s right to change its leadership according to its laws.
Asked about embezzlement accusations raised against Chukor, Kanso told al-Markaziyah news agency that legal proceedings are bound to follow if the latter were to be found guilty
