Caretaker Minister of Displaced Alaaeddine Terro denied that Deputy Walid Jumblatt's response concerning the election proposal to Speaker of the House Nabih Berri was negative, adding the PSP (Progressive Socialist Party) wanted to clarify some points before giving the final answer.
The Minister refused to mention the points of difference in the proposal, stressing that "PSP is seriously considering the proposal."
The Minister said that PSP would prefer the hybrid bill, urging the need to have a consensual electoral law among all parties.
Terro renewed Jumblatt's refusal to the extension of the Parliament's term, calling on sides to work seriously to produce a new electoral law to hold the elections on schedule.
"Elections delay would lead to many problems in Lebanon," the Minister asserted.
Terro praised the efforts exerted by Berri, Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam with cooperation with President Michel Sleiman to activate the legislative and executive powers, and work to approve an election law and the formation of the government at the same time.
